Accessibility: Unfortunately, currently only the ground floor of the Brockville Museum is wheelchair-accessible. But we do have a work-around. If a researcher with mobility issues lets us know about their limitations in advance, we make arrangements with the Museum for workspace for them on the ground floor, which is fully accessible. Our library catalogue has been installed on our laptop computer, so we can take it upstairs to the visitor to allow them to see what our holdings are. We can then select the materials that the researcher would like to view, and bring those materials to the researcher. If the researcher wants to view films from our microfilm collection, we make arrangements with either the Museum or the Brockville Public Library to take the films to one of those locations for viewing. While we know this is not ideal, we are willing to work to make research available to those who are differently abled.

Collection: Our archives/library has an excellent collection of material enabling you to do genealogical research in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.  There are family histories, local histories, vital statistics records, church records, all census for the area on microfilm (many indexed), cemetery publications for all known cemeteries, list of wills available on microfilm in the Brockville and Prescott registry offices, microfilms of some Athens, Brockville, Gananoque and Prescott newspapers (some indexed), land books indexes, township papers, and school records (in the process of being scanned). The highlight of the collection are 99% of the land abstract books for Leeds and Grenville Counties. We also have the Duncan MacDonald collection of church records for Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, as well as a nice collection of material for the other surrounding areas.
